Borås Tech Challenge 2026

On 7–8 May, we once again brought together developers, problem-solvers, students and other tech enthusiasts to shape and code new ideas – all with a focus on creating real societal value. The theme of the 2026 hackathon was Games that Matter, highlighting how technology can make a difference in people’s everyday lives. Around 180 participants across 38 teams took part in the event.

New for this year was the People’s Choice Award, where the audience voted for their favourite among the finalists.

Borås Tech Challenge 2025

The theme for 2025 was Hack for Good, and the hackathon took place on 8–9 May at the University of Borås. This year saw a record number of participants, with just over 200 competitors across 39 teams from companies, the university, higher vocational education and upper secondary schools.

Borås Tech Challenge 2024

In 2024, the theme was A Socially Sustainable Borås, and the event was held on 16–17 May at the University of Borås. A total of 32 teams, each consisting of 3–6 participants, took part. Teams were free to choose their programming approach and had 23 hours to develop a prototype.

Borås Tech Challenge 2023

Borås Tech Challenge premiered in 2023, taking place on 11–12 May at the University of Borås. The challenge was to create the best digital solution on the theme The Sustainable Digital Society. In total, 30 teams participated and developed a range of creative solutions.
