XV Production builds sustainable structures for the future

How do you scale craft-based expertise without compromising on quality and sustainability? In an innovation sprint with Tech Borås, XV Production explored how AI can support decision-making in the quoting and planning process for remake projects.

During the sprint, XV Production mapped their remake process – from the initial assessment of a garment to decisions on time, pricing and feasibility. The goal was to use AI to automate parts of the quoting process.

The prototype developed analyses images and descriptions of incoming requests, compares them with previous projects, and generates early, transparent estimates to support both quoting and planning.

A more scalable business with AI-driven decision support

This work involves capturing the expertise that previously existed in the team’s hands and minds, and transforming it into an operational decision-support system that helps ensure both quality and profitability.

“We make these assessments every day. Now we’re capturing them in a format that can be shared and applied consistently,” says Lovisa Nolander, Pattern Cutter and Product Developer.

With an initial app prototype that processes customers’ digital input – including images and short descriptions – the team uses AI to compare new requests with earlier remake projects and generate early estimates for time and cost.

“This gives us a faster and more accurate starting point in our dialogue with customers. At the same time, it creates better conditions for scaling the business,” says Linnéa Magnusdotter, Project Manager and Creative Director.

A short sprint with long-term impact

Through the innovation sprint, XV Production tested a new way of working with their expertise. In a short time, they developed both a concrete digital solution and a clearer structure around the knowledge needed to assess and carry out remake projects. This makes it easier to work more consistently, follow up on processes and continue refining the approach over time.

The result is a first step towards a more data-driven and scalable remake model – without compromising the craftsmanship at the heart of the business.

Learning that builds ownership

One of the biggest gains has been the learning along the way. By actively participating in building the solution together with developers and researchers at the University of Borås, the team has taken significant steps forward – both in terms of knowledge and system development – on their journey towards more data-driven processes.

“To be a sustainability partner for other companies, it needs to be both easy and inspiring to choose remake. With scalable system support, we can better demonstrate the value we bring. We can help the fashion industry meet regulatory requirements, while also enabling a genuine commitment to sustainability and circularity,” Linnéa concludes.

This is one example of the work carried out at Tech Borås in 2025.
