Data-driven innovation with AI

Here we’ve gathered a selection of projects and solutions developed within the framework of Tech Borås. The formats and methods vary – sometimes we work in innovation sprints, other times we create new ideas through hackathons or contribute to academic research. Regardless of the format, our goal is always the same: to generate insights and deliver real value through data-driven solutions.

Digital innovation for compost

Biokub, a company specialising in hot composters, faced the challenge of digitalising its operations and developing a more service-oriented business model. During Innovation Sprint #4, we developed an app to help users monitor and optimise their composting process.

In Innovation Sprint #3, two very different companies – Care of Carl and Tranemo Meta l– collaborated to find solutions to shared challenges. Both aimed to use AI for image and text recognition to streamline their processes, albeit in very different ways.

Innovations for a Good Cause

At Borås Tech Challenge 2025, 200 participants created tech solutions under the theme “Hack 4 Good.” Among the many great ideas were solutions to reduce food waste, an app to detect phone scams, a game to teach the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and a platform to support students who struggle with school attendance.

Reimagining Customer Service with AI

How can we improve customer communication throughout the customer journey? In Innovation Sprint #2, five tech companies joined forces with researchers and students to develop digital solutions for customer support, product recommendations, product descriptions, and academic guidance.

Borås Tech Challenge 2024 featured several standout solutions, including an app for AI-generated fairy tales, a multilingual chatbot providing information about the city of Borås, a website where visitors can chat and practise social skills, and an interactive map for meeting new people.

Data Protection and Personalisation in E-Commerce

Five e-commerce companies, four regional tech firms, and five researchers from the University of Borås collaborated over six intensive weeks in Innovation Sprint #1 to develop and evaluate a shared concept.
