Borås Tech Challenge is a hackathon where tech-interested students and professionals in the Borås region meet and compete for a day. Each year, a new hot topic is set and teams compete to find the best and most innovative solution.

From idea to prototype in 24 hours

Each team has 24 hours to come up with an idea, program it, and get it ready enough to present the solution to the jury in three minutes. All the teams are gathered in a computer room at the university. Intensive, educational, and fun. Some work all day and night, while others go home for a few hours to get some rest.

 

Solutions to real problems

The competition is carried out in teams with the ambition to create new digital services and products on different themes. This allows teams to create useful solutions to real problems and win prizes.

Borås Tech Challenge 2025

The theme for 2025 was Hack for Good, and the hackathon took place on 8–9 May at the University of Borås. It saw a record number of participants, with just over 200 competitors across 39 teams from companies, the university, higher vocational education and upper secondary schools.

Borås Tech Challenge 2024

The theme was "Socially Sustainable Borås" and the competition took place on 16-17 May 2024 at the University of Borås. In total, 32 teams of three to six people took part. The teams chose the programming technology themselves and had 23 hours to create a prototype.

Borås Tech Challenge 2023

The brief was to create the best digital solution on the theme of "The Sustainable Digital Society." Borås Tech Challenge premiered on 11-12 May 2023 at the University of Borås. A total of 30 teams took part and came up with creative solutions.
